Over the last 7 days Aaron Ross and i have been filming with Francis for our new upcoming ODYSSEY EDIT. I cant say much about it, Over than its going to be  awesome!

Last week Vanessa and I traveled to France to spend New years eve with the Jumelin Family. To say we have the best time with them is a huge understatement. The best times of our lives were spent with these guys. They took us to the french alps for some skiing, crazynight parties, and conversations that will change our lives forever. Thanks to the most positive, fun, and awesome family we know for another wonderful trip..   Below are a couple photos from the time we spent with them.

We stayed in really nice cabin in the mountains and this was the view out the window. So breathtaking.. It was nothing like I had ever seen before..

My last day in San Diego was super tight. My homie Gabe Kad showed up & surprised me to hang out & ride all day. It was so dope to ride & catch up with this guy. I love him.

After my demos the wifey & I headed to the biggest zoo in the USA. It was a fun time for sure. 3 hours of animal watching was just what I needed. Hhaha.

I just did this TV interview for some schools local TV show on their college campus. This was a wild group of students for sure. Tonight I have 2 club appearances. Moving right along…

Today I arrived in San Diego for some Red Bull stuff. Right off the plane I ended up in this Radio station. I talked about some weird stuff. It was tight though.

This is what I did the rest of the day. I rode for drunk College kids. Now I am back at my hotel chilling with my wife. I brought her along simply because she’s rad.

Today my mom turned 50 years old. I was really excited that I was able to fly home for a Lil break to see her. Love you mom! Happy Birthday!

I just finished up in Tampa, FL … I have been here 3 days doing some appearances at some night clubs, tailgates, & a lot of chilling at my hotel. It’s been fun. Now I am at the airport about to head over to Miami for more riding. The photo above was me being interviewed for some website outside the club demo I did. Today Starts day 31 of this tour. BOOM!

This morning I tried to fly out from Omaha to New Orleans to have a 2 day break at home. Things went bad & my flight was canceled from Memphis to New Orleans. bummer.

Good news is, I am now headed home in a rental car with 4 other people that missed their flight. I will be home in 5 hours!!! bam!

I did a radio show today, it was kind of tight.

I have been generating a ton of Media at all these campus’s over the last 3 weeks. Heres a cool one that dropped this morning from a school paper from yesterday. Updating from the airport. I’m out!

On day 20 of my tour I stopped at the University of Kansas. I received an email from Flat rider Jerry Milborn saying that a rider from China goes to school there & wanted to ride with me. oK Let’s do it then! I contacted him and the sesh was on!

It turned into a dope session and Zunwu is a really talented rider! He also plans to enter Voodoo Jam & Jomopro next year so watch out! This guy is awesome! I had a really fun time riding with him, Jerry, and the whole KC BMX scene tonight. Day 20 is a rap. Tomorrow I am headed to Nebraska!

Yesterday I tore this campus in half. Meeting up with campus media and riding inside one of the dorm buildings was definitely some highlights of the day.

It was a long day yesterday, Now I am headed to Iowa. Day 16 of this tour begins. Lets get it Poppin!!

Right now I am on a crazy 4 hour drive through corn fields from Indiana to Illinois. After I hit the Campus in Illinois I will then embrace another 4 hour drive to Iowa. Then I fly out to Michigan, Then Kansas, Then Nebraska, then I don’t even know. This tour is BONKERS!

Yesterday I hung out on Western Kentucky University with a bunch of students. It was a Pretty fun day.. This little article ended up on their school’s online website today. Day 14 of my tour begins today. I am headed to Indiana in about an hour.  More updates coming soon!

Today I rode around Penn State College & then tonight I did a little show at a Bar. Super flat floor! Headed to Pittsburgh in the morning!

Last night I performed in this night club for a bunch of girls & guys that were doing the Jersey Turnpike. Pretty wild crowd but they loved watching flatland.

Then I woke up this morning and hit the board walk. Pretty fun day. But now I am sitting on an airplane headed to Penn State. This tour is out of control! Day 10 is a rap!

Tour day 10 was a pretty chill day at Ocean City Beach. Just pedaling around and feeling the wind. So stoked and just taking it all in.

Today I had an appearance at Charmcity skate park in Baltimore. I was very stoked on how many flatland riders that showed up to ride with me. It was tight.

Ofcourse many street kids showed up to get their hats signed and ask a shit ton of questions about Aaron Ross. haaaa

By Far the coolest thing that has happened on this tour is this guy in the photo above! He is a flatland rider & trails rider named Matt Gilman. He is Blind and still rides his bike!! Really had a nice talk with this guy. Check out his site!  This guy will make you think twice about life and obstacles that are put in front of you!

The past 2 days I have been on Virginia tech college riding on campus. This was the college they had that crazy shooting at in 2006 so it was pretty wild. The photo above I found a Basketball court and rode for some students. Homies were stoked. Now I am at the smallest airport in the world about to hop on a flight to DC.. More updates coming soon!

Last night I flew from Atlanta to Richmond ,VA for my next set of appearances . Starting today off with a 4 hour drive with the Red Bull crew that will end us up at Virginia Tech College. So I am spending this down time to update you guys. Thanks for checking all the updates. You guys are dope.

Day 4 of my tour consisted of me rolling around the University of Georgia campus just chilling & riding with the locals. As you can see in this photo, I was having fun. I love this life.

Today I did a pretty wild demo at Progressive Skatepark in Atlanta. The floor was so good to ride on and all the kids were very stoked to watch flatland!

I get asked this question so much on facebook, emails, and even in person. I thought it would be dope to tell the story on why I like to ride in this busy parking lot instead of  my backyard.

In 2002 I traveled to NY with my homies for the “Flatland Fury” contest. I  wound up taking first place and that was pretty much the  start of my BMX career. I quit my job at the local bike shop the following week, snagged an invite to the Xgames in Philly, & then headed to japan later in the year to win my first KOG. Looking back at this video I can’t believe that 10 years has already passed. Life is short.. Live it right..

Honestly.. This has to be the raddest kid on planet earth. I am a BIG Dugan fan. Pretty stoked to see this guy rocking my grips too! Watch this edit and drool.. Style cat for sure.

Just wanted to throw that out there… Take notes ladies.. Buy yourself a BMX.

I Just returned from New Jersey for a wild little Wal Mart tour. Red Bull set up demos for me at 2 different locations. It was great because many riders showed up to watch the shows from hearing about it online through my Twitter, Facebook, or an online site. I was pretty stoked.

At each location the event was promoted really well with some posters, Red Bull display, and even a TV playing some flatland videos.

Scott OBrien came alone to MC and really rocked the house. Rad having this guy there to hang with and bring the good vibes at the shows.

After the last demo was over I picked someone in the crowd and gave them a brand new Flatware Waltz bike complete with all my signature parts.

This guy Jason drove over 3 hours to watch the demo so we decided he deserved it the most. Congrats man I hope you like the bike. I was super pumped to give back to flatland so thanks to Red Bull & Dans comp for hooking that bike up for the give away!

During the demo I gave of out these Pro Skin Performance Bands to the crowd as well. Thanks to my new sponsor for sending them.

After the demos were over it ended with a pretty big autograph signing. It was pretty cool to pump these kids up and hook them up with some dope posters!

Once again the coolest part of this trip for me was one of the biggest legends in BMX came out to session after the shows were over. Kevin Jones son!

I will be giving away a complete “Flatware Waltz bike” at one of these demos in NJ this weekend. Come out and say whats up if you live near by.

After talking with Kevin Jones this past weekend I got really inspired by a ton of things he said to me. He made me realize that this life of riding a bike never has to end. I asked how old he was and his response was ” I am 44 years old, and if you want to find me I will be out here riding for at least the next 20 years. Not only did Kevin pave the road for modern flatland today but is honestly a living riding legend that just loves riding bikes. I posted this video above because it gives you a great sense of how much skill this guy has on a bike. Because of him, Flatland is what it is today! Respect Big Daddy.

The contest just ended in York, PA . It was awesome and as you can see the crowd was pretty dope as well!

I was really stoked how I rode with 2 flawless runs in the finals. Matt and Dane killed it as well. I guess the highlight of the weekend for me was getting a compliment from Jones himself after the contest. Seeing and talking to Kevin Jones this weekend just seems like a big dream. Directly from the airport we drove to the Jam spot. I had not ridden in this lot since the York Jam in 2000. Wow it’s crazy how time flies.

After the session was over I talked to Kevin Jones for a bit. I can’t even begin to tell you how stoked I was. Last time I saw him I was a bit too young and shy. This time I had some things to say. Kevin will always be one of the biggest legends in BMX. Contest is tomorrow! It’s gonna be dope!

Today I am headed to the Tuner Revolution contest in York, PA ! Right now I am just chilling at the New Orleans airport with the wifey. Bringing her along because I love this girl! Going to be some fun times for sure.

Well, here it is! Each dollar people donated to Japan was represented with one strip of paper with the donator’s name on it. We then took the names and dumped it into our incubator, turned on the fan and then plucked the winner from the swirl of paper. Today, I announced the winner for the Painting Raffle!

A HUGE thanks goes out to everyone who donated and helped out with the relief effort. In the end, we ended up raising $2068! A huge shout out goes to KIPP school in LA for being the largest contributor.

Here is my 1st place qualifying run from the Battle at the bricks. In the finals I could not hold it together and wound up getting 6th place. 1st was Matthias, 2nd Matt Wilhelm, and 3rd went to Dane Beardsley.. Congrats to all the riders.

Yesterday morning we rode at Alan Youngs school spot. It was such a fun session for me because It was my first time really riding in a while because all of my resent demos. Matthias made this edit in like 10 minutes after we were done riding. That guy is fast. Check it!

While in Washington this week I stopped by the KOMO News Studio and had a sit down interview. The piece turned out pretty dope! Its wild to put flatland on the News! I am stoked!  Please check it out..

As all of you know, Last week Joplin, MO had one of the worst tornado’s in history of the US. Killing many people and pretty much destroying most of the entire town. Its such a sad time and my heart goes out to all the people over there. Just one month ago I was in Joplin for the Jomopro contest. It was very cool to see the same people that run the contest have opened up their skate park to families needing help after this horrible disaster. You can read the article by clicking here

So today I did an interview with the local news station here in Seattle. It was a pretty tight sit down interview . I also did some riding in their news room. My segment should air tomorrow night on KOMO ABC 4 News. Its been a non stop month..

I am in Seattle, WA right now doing some college shows. Pretty fun chilling on college campus’s chilling with the students. 2 more days of this and then I head off to Indianapolis for the Red Bull Battle Of The Bricks contest!

So I just returned from one of the raddest demos I have ever done. It was in Minneapolis for the “Poptarts front row event inside the Mall of America.  Peep the photo.. Such a cool thing to be apart of.

I did a ton of interviews all day.. Some of them included me answering questions that kids posted on the Poptarts Front Row website. I will post them soon.

I was really pumped to see this guy show up wearing my signature Raising Canes shirt. He is a dope flatland rider that lived near the Mall. Thanks for rolling out Dale!

This kid showed up with my RIDE BMX cover for me to sign. I thought he looked young to have a magazine from 2006 .. So after I asked… He told me he bought it from a yard sale..  Thats tight.

So many people watched this demo. It was pretty crazy for sure. I was excited to be apart of this event and hope I can do some more in the future.

I ended the day with a autograph signing and then headed directly to the airport with “The Duke”. Now I just made it home and the airline lost my luggage. Story of my life.. 5th time this year. ahhhhhh… Leaving on Monday.. Hope I get my bike soon!

Today I arrived in Minneapolis to get ready for a pretty big show that will happen inside the Mall of America for the Poptarts front row event tomorrow.

I brought The Duke along with me as a second rider. The mall is like 5 stories high and the crowd should be amazing tomorrow. Tonight me and John had the chance to test out the floor for about an hour. Its dope!

Not sure if you have ever heard whats in this mall.. They have a freaking entire amusement park. You better believe I am riding this Roller coaster tomorrow! More updates to come! Hope some of you can make the show tomorrow. Peace!

3 days ago I flew into Newark to do a couple demos in front the Red Bull Arena before a big game. The weather was a bit shady but I managed to get in 2 demos before the storm. Crazy I was just in Newark 2 weeks ago.. Back back again..

Riding while DJ dirty finger spinning all day.. Yeah you heard me right… DJ dirty finger. Crazy DJ name right? haha

So this morning I woke up and jumped on a 6am flight to Portland, OR..(6 hour flight) I jumped off the plane and went directly to this high school  to talk to the students about being a pro BMX rider. They were super stoked! Especially since it was a “Sports Marketing” class.

So now the plan for Portland is to ride in a bunch of locations around the city and let the BMX riders and who ever else come out and watch.. Red Bull has posted a bunch of fliers around the town with my Twitter so people can find out where I am riding. So with all that said.. I gotta go ride… Today is gonna be tight!

I did a RedBull demo today in Orlando, Florida. Chad Degroot was nice enough to come out to the show and be my MC. I was pretty stoked for sure. Before the demo chad filmed me for some website. Fun times..

Before the show Chad warmed up by screaming in peoples faces. It was pretty rad to have this guy as my MC considering that he could  learn all my tricks in 5 minutes. Chad is most definitely a living flatland legend. I looked up to this guy growing up and still do! Family man, super dad, rider, bike company owner, and the list goes on!  Chad kills it!

I have been waking up early and hitting my Hobby Lobby lot. Hands down my favorite place to ride in the entire world. Beautiful. Just Beautiful.

I Met Scott O”brien around 14 years ago. One of my first encounters with him was at a BMX contest held at a skatepark in New Orleans.  He had just got back into riding and entered the contest wearing an Afro wig. I thought to myself ” this guy has talent and he is a lil crazy”. After the contest was over I noticed Scott was the person handing out the awards. I then realized that he was the guy that organized the entire contest. At that moment I knew he had a very strong love for flatland but I must admit, I never would have expected the impact he was going to make in the coming years around the world in the flatland contest scene. Scott kept riding and developed a crazy original style. I had always been impressed by his motivation to keep  progressing as a rider. Not only did he become a part of our scene but a father figure for a couple of us. Driving us to contest, jams, and events all over the states. It was some of the best times of my life for sure!

In 2004 after Flatland was dropped from the “X-Gaymes” Scott started brain storming ideas to really put flatland back in the spot light. His idea was to put a contest in a night club with him as the MC, have the audience very close, and end the finals with a 3 man battle. It sounded simple but let me tell you this, that contest pretty much changed the whole game. Voodoo Jam was born and Scott’s passion for flatland really shinned on the floor as an MC to say the least. He had a special way of letting the crowd know that they were looking at something epic. When they were at his event, the roof was going to blow off and the riders were going to get the respect they deserved! If the the riders pulled their hardest tricks they knew Scott was going to jump kick them right on that floor. It was definitely a breath of fresh air to see such a different style contest.

After Voodoo Jam Scott became the MC everyone wanted. He went on to MC the BMX Masters, Ninja Spin, Flatground, RedBull 14, 5 Voodoo Jams, Battle at the beach, Ground force, and a hand full of other events around the world. He made a huge mark in flatland and in my opinion really changed the way organizers run their events today.

The past 2 years Scott has taken a break from riding and MCing contest to focus on the other great things his life has going on. His family and being there for his kids has been keeping him pretty busy. He has been a Football and Baseball coach for his sons very successful teams.

I wanted to take a moment to thank Scott for taking me on all my first trips, helping me with so much advise growing up, and for some of the best memories in my life. It’s much appreciated homie. I put together a couple questions for Scott to Answer about being an MC, father, Fire fighter, and rider. Please enjoy people!

First off, How many years have you been involved in BMX?
Off and on for about 25 years.

Seems like these days there is definitely not an age cut off with riding flat. Guys like Pete B, Chad J, Jesse P, Trevor M, and Alex J, just to name a few are still riding super hard. Seems like they are never gonna stop!! Whats your thoughts on all the riders that are in their late 30s early 40s still pushing the limits of their riding? I don’t think there should be any limits in life. Do what you can and take advantage of every day. These guys are incredible that you mentioned and there are plenty more out riding that are not pro’s but enjoy Flatland and still do it.  We do have to give props to these guys because they are doing it at such a high level and also recognize those that only ride once a week because of family and work.

I pass by multiple softball fields with plenty of men the same ages as these guys and they are playing their respective sports at these ages as well.
Being active at these ages is very important to your mental and physical health so you should try to push yourself at all ages. I plan on being the best golfer and busting on some golf guys when i’m like 60.LOL….

You were a organizer of the biggest contest in the USA for 5 years, What was the hardest part, most rewarding part, and most importantly your motivation behind it? Hardest part is soliciting sponsors and getting the funds to do a quality event. But the real hardest part in when riders from the USA do not show up. I know things are tuff for some people but there is always a way to make things happen. Come to Voodoo!

Rewarding part knowing that the riders appreciate what we have done and spectators really enjoy the event. People that have no idea what Flatland is come to Voodoo and never forget it. I would also like to think that what we have done with Voodoo since 2004 has really pushed the limits of Flatland and still is today in other competitions.
My motivation has always been Flatland. Having an outlet to promote Flatland and giving us riders the very best stage to show what we do.

After you MCed Voodoo Jam in 2004 you pretty much traveled the globe as an international flatland MC. What was your favorite moment on the contest floor? Wow, so many favorites I could list 20 at least, but one that stands out a lot is York Uno in Amsterdam at Flatground 2005 I believe. Big contest, great stage and a lot of people. He was doing some new kinda turbine stuff and I went nuts and started to slap my jacket on the floor the crowd was going crazy for what he was doing. It was great and York got 3rd at that contest and he was so happy as I was for him as well. He is a life long friend and I will always remember that night.

Over the past 2 years you have taken a little break from riding to be a coach/sports mentor for your son Cam. How much time did that take up and do you see yourself coming back to riding full force anytime soon?
Actually its been about 3 years. Balancing life can be difficult at times but I did take time off from riding to focus on my personal and family life. For me personally I had to do that because in the past my riding would take a lot out of me. So I needed to step back and re balance life a bit. I do plan on riding back full force but it may just be a little bit more chill then how hard I use to ride.

You have been a firefighter, father, rider and had your hands in many things since I have known you. Do you think being such a busy guy has helped your motivation for riding in any way? Yes it has helped me, being busy is the way I am. I freak out if I have nothing to do and I walk around my house bothering everyone. I laugh at myself at times when I am not busy because I have no idea how to do nothing. Im not good at doing nothing.

The biggest question that everyone wants to know is….. Will there be another Voodoo Jam contest?
Yes there will and it will be the best one ever. We gonna work hard to make it happen and every single Flatland rider from the USA will attend because they know they should be there. Also, my kids are begging me because they want Matthias and Ucchie to come over again. LOL!

Any Last words?
I want to let all the riders know that allowed me to emcee for them that I appreciate and thank you guys for everything. You have all motivated my life and opened me up to so much in this world. My family and I have been influenced by your cultures, your way of life and your riding. Thanks so much to you all!!!!

I also want to start a new campaign called “Go To Voodoo Jam” “No excuses make it happen”. We as USA Flatlanders need to have a large number of riders in attendance. We need to rock the house and blow the roof off in that place. Im gonna start working to put something together for the spring time so get ready for an entire weekend Friday, Saturday and Sunday. I promise if you have never been you will never forget and if have been you will be pumped up as ever!!

Today I arrived in Newark for a couple RedBull demos in New Jersey. When I first arrived the folks at the airport had my bike bag locked up in this room and it took over 1 hour for them to find the key.. hmmmmm…. Really!

The demos were at 2 a Mexican restaurant’s for some wild beer drinking, sparkle shirt wearing, and a ton of Jersey peeps out celebrating Cinco De Mayo.. The demos were pretty chill and I did not get beat up my a muscle guy so I guess they went ok! haha

The best part of this trip for me was that “Erin Donato showed up to watch my last 2 demos. She is pretty humble to say the least. This girl is the top female legend rider in the world ! Such good conversations with her today. Thanks to Keith at Red Bull for everything and every dude with a sparkle shirt that showed up. You guys rock!

I just took first place at the 8th annual Twilight contest in Athens, GA !! I was really stoked on the way I rode. It was definitely some very close results between me and Dane Beardsley. He rode flawless and had some some very hard combos. So I just want to say props to Dane! The top 3 results ended up like this…. 1st Me, 2nd Dane Beardsley, and 3rd was Isaiah Jordan. I wanted to give Props to John Dowker for putting on this rad event! The crowd was awesome and flatland was showcased very well so that is what counts! Such a dope contest!

This morning we left at 6:30am for the long drive to Athens, GA for the Twighlight contest. My crew was pretty tight. My wife Vanessa, Mini pimp, and myslef!

With the 11 hour drive I decided to make an iphone edit from the entire trip. I will be editing this thing up in my editing lab and should drop this thing by early next week. So look out!

In 2006 I received a phone call from Fat Tony. He had asked if I was interested in doing an interview for ride UK magazine. It was obvious that he did not know me that well at the time. If anyone wants to shoot photos with me that end up somewhere, I am on it! That interview took us about two weeks to shoot. We shot photos threw water, fire, and even on the edge of buildings. Thanks to Fat that interview has been one of the highlights of my media coverage through out the following years. Since that interview Fat has really made a name for himself by bringing flatland to the media in many different ways. Not only has Fat had tons of photos of the top flatland riders published in Transworld Magazine. He has also made a dope flatland calendar for the past 3 years, done a ton of online articles that highlight flatland, and he has even started riding flatland himself. One thing that I have always respected about Fat is that he treats flatland just as another part of BMX. He recognizes the potential it has, has a ton of respect for all the riders, and truly cares what the future holds for our sport. Its great to have industry guys in BMX that really respect what we do. I had Fat send over some of his favorite flatland photos, articles, and a look at his past calendar projects. About a year ago a kid named Jacob walked up to me in my local Wal-Mart with a toy finger bike and asked me to sign it. I signed it but explained to him that in a couple months they will have one made with my bike inside the box.. Since that day, Jacob and his mom has searched high & low for my toy and was unable to find it. Today their search is over. I met them at my riding spot with a my toy, my DVD, and some other goodies. Come to find out he is a huge fan and even watches flatland all the time. Jacob had some teeth pulled this morning.. Hope you feel better soon little buddy!

Scrolling around YouTube I notice this edit with Aaron and I is already up to 224,712 views! I found a couple with around 100,000. The video also made the top 10 most viewed edits on the Transworld site last year. I am guessing this thing has been viewed well over 600,000 times. That’s kinda dope! I dont want to give away any secrets but……. Part 2 is already being talked about. Look out!

After I posted the Justin Miller interview I received over 100 messages from e-mails, tweets direct messages, and from facebook from riders around the world saying thanks and to tell Justin that they miss watching him ride. As you can see above, Global flat had over 40 post and still growing…  I think it is safe to say that the flatland world wants this guy back. Below I added a couple messages from riders and what they had to say. Bottom line is… Justin is a bad ass! No joke.

Thought it was necessary to post all this so we can get this guy back on his bike. Some people in world are blessed with an unbelievable amount of talent. Hope to one day see Justin sitting beside me on an airplane again heading to a contest. We all know he loved to compete! Thanks for all the feedback guys! It meant alot to me to do that interview! About a 2 months ago a guy hit me up on twitter and said he was going to make the drive out to Toronto to watch the flatland contest. Tonight I received this awesome message that came to my youtube account. I don’t remember meeting this kid but it definitely reminded me that being nice to people sometimes goes a long way.

I met Justin in 2002 at a CFB contest in Joliet, IL. I needed some air in my tire and asked to borrow his pump. At the time Justin was competing in the expert class. To be completely honest he was not a stand out rider at the time. He hung in the back of the lot riding alone, seemed pretty shy, and its safe to say no one thought in just 2 years he would make a mark so deep in the scene that his name would never be forgotten. Two years later I traveled to Japan with Justin for the KOG contest that he took a well deserved 1st place in the expert class. I can remember watching his run and thinking to myself, how will I ever beat this guy when he turns pro? Funny I thought that because he then turned pro and whooped my ass at just about every contest on the map. He took the win at the BMX Masters, Voodoo Jam, and even grabbed a NORA Cup in those years as well. It was obvious Justin was not at these contest for making friends. He was there for business, for blood, he was there to win!

I traveled all over the globe with him from 2004 through 2008. We became the best of friends and have shared some of the best moments in life together. As most of you know Justin left the scene completely about 3 years ago. I still speak with him just about everyday. The only difference is we never talk about riding anymore. We speak about everything but riding bikes. It’s hard for me to not ask him about flatland because I often wonder if he will ever ride again. Sometimes I will ask him, you know that you are the most talented contest rider that ever lived right? He always replies with “shut-up, no I am not”. Justin and I have completely different personalities and that’s what’s so great about life. You meet people that are so different from yourself and then that person ends up being one of the closet friends you will ever have. You better believe it was a fight to get him to do this interview. Sorry for bugging you man. I had to. It is just the way I am. Enjoy!!

These days you have your own Construction Company, How much time does that take up of your life? It takes up my whole day. From the time I wake up to when the sun goes down I am  either doing a job or cleaning up the trailer getting ready for the next day.

What kind of things do you do on a daily basis for work?
I’ll do anything to make money. We do a lot of foreclosure stuff and I’ve shoved shit out of toilets and bath tubs, cleaned up dead animals, cleaned roach and flea infested homes, and even installing crown molding in a 700,000 dollar house. It doesnt matter to me as long as Im working.

You also own a ton of houses in your town for rental properties. How many houses do you have and did winning flatland contest help buy any of them? I dont own a ton of houses slick. I have a few houses. Yeah riding bought me my first house. Granted I had to take an equity loan out to finish the project but it got me started. The income from that house and a few more contests helped me buy my second one also. After that I wasnt making enough riding so I started doing construction and the rental business. Oh and by the way asking how many houses you have is like asking a woman her age or weight.

Everyone in the flatland world is wondering, Did you quit riding?
Yeah. I did knock over my bike yesterday trying to get the lawnmower out. Could not even tell it was a bike so much dust was on it. No seriously. I worked all year and maybe took 2-3 days off and I worked at my house on those days anyways. If I had the time to ride I still would but I have a good construction business and rental business and I need to keep those my top priority.

When is the last time you rode your bike?
Probably a year or more. If i did not have a lot of shit to do I would ride because I still like to do it.

Where is your bike?
In my barn by the roofing tools. Probably covered in dust.

Its no secret that you made a huge mark in the flatland scene with winning the NORA cup, winning countless contest around the globe, and dialing some of the hardest tricks that has ever been done on a bike. When you think back about all those victories, Which one are you most proud of?
I am proud of them all. I liked being able to see my hard work pay off. I really did ride until I went crazy!! lol. It really takes a lot to be on top and to stay on top with not much support. I was never one to do camera interviews or any sort of attention. I really dont like it!

In my opinion, You will always be one of the best contest riders that has ever touched a bike. What about riding contest did you enjoy the most?
The feeling of riding for 2 months everyday pulling your tricks everyday and being able to go to a contest in front of hundreds of people and be able to do it just like I was in the parking lot.

I can remember countless times traveling to contest with you. I was always scared because I knew if you rode bad that you would be in a pretty bad mood for the rest of the trip. Why were you so hard on yourself if you did not ride perfect? To me if i did not ride good it just ate me up inside. It really pissed me off. I broke a lot of bikes and parts because of the stress leading up to contests. I even got shingles because I would scream so loud and get so stressed out. When you do tricks eveyday and all of a sudden one day you can’t pull them it really bothered me. I am a freak I know!  I would spend 3 hours on one, 5 in a row combo because if I didnt pull it I’d be so pissed off the rest of the day. Also back then I did not have travel expenses paid. When a plane ticket costs 1300 bucks and 1st place is 2000 there really isnt much room for error. If you want to be the best at anything its nearly impossible to work and ride full time. To take riding to that next level takes a lot of time and effort.

How many hours a day did you practice in 2005?
5-6. I remember some 7-8 hour days too.

What was your favorite trick you invented?

What was your best memory from traveling around the world going to flatland contest?
Seeing the world with you slick. I did a lot of cool things and saw a lot of cool places traveling with you.

Do you ever see yourself riding flatland again?
I do. I’ve been thinking about it more and more latly because no one can beat Matthias(execpt you). :) I dont know what all the kid are doing out there. They need to step it up and give him a run for his money or I am gonna have to come out of retirement!

(Justin does not send me riding photos anymore) I get photos like this from him his just about every other day! I love it!

Louisiana trip by MatthiasDandois

I Met Mickey Gaidos when I was around 11 years old. We met at a skatepark to ride together and that day 100% changed my life forever. I already rode BMX for years but it was mostly ramps and racing. After watching Mickey ride flatland with his friends completely mesmerized me to the point that I ate, breathed, and pooped flatland after that day.

Through the years I have stayed the closest  friends with Mickey not only because of riding bikes, but from sharing some of the best memories of my life with this guy. One of my favorite memories about our friendship is watching videos over the phone together late at night to motivate us to go ride. We would say one, two, three, PLAY !! Then watch the video over the phone together getting more stoked than anyone could ever imagine. Those  nights spent on the phone were so motivating not only for my riding but knowing I had a true friend that loved flatland as much as me was just so dope!

Around the year 2003 Mickey became super interested in Filming and Editing videos. Mickey has stayed riding flatland all these years but has Also continued to pursue a career in Film. I have been super impressed with not only the  steady work he has coming in but also the quality of work has been completely amazing. So amazing that I even asked him to film and edit my movie “Dreams” that was released in 2008. To say I was happy with the film would be a complete understatement. Along with making my DVD Mickey has also worked on a ton of TV pilots, commercials, TV Shows, and even edited an entire feature movie.

Mickey has the type of grind and hustle that not many people have. His everyday schedule has consisted of juggling many different filming/editing projects at one time for as long as I can remember. With deadlines always approaching for every job he lands, Mickey is always a super busy dude. I must say the raddest thing about Mickey is no matter how much he has going on, He always finds time to ride. My most memorable sessions have been been with him riding  through out the night and watching the sun come up.

This guy is prime example of someone taking what they love and making it their life. The amount of respect I have for Mickey as a rider, person, and filmier/editor can not even be put into words. I decided to do this blog post to showcase some of Mickeys favorite work that is online. Also I wanted to give a shout to him for all the hard work paying off. Congrats homie!!!

The goal of the DVD is to maximize and sustain behavioral changes in the community in hopes of reducing breast cancer vulnerability in low income, under-insured women non-adherent to mammography in New Orleans.

“We decided to participate in the contest 2 days before the deadline, therefore we wrote, shot and edited this short film in 48hrs. I had minimal input on the story; my task was to put the script on the screen, which I believe I achieved with minimal resources. As you’ll see in the credits we had a production crew of 3 including myself and I handled all of the Post-Production myself. I’m very proud of the production value we achieved on this short considering the time constraints and that is one reason why this film is on my top 3 list.
A huge thank you to everyone involved in this film, everyone brought they’re A-game to make this happen and it was one of the best experiences of any project making this short film.”

Like I said, Mickeys work is so tight. Hope you guys enjoyed all this.

Pretty stoked on this. Half cab, half whip, to half lash.. Hobby Lobby treated me well yesterday.

Yesterday I received some samples of my signature Odyssey/Flatware grip. The name of grips are the “Cuff Links”. I designed it to have a super comfortable feel from the beginning to end of the grip. After testing these samples yesterday I can honest say this grip is awesome!!!

These grips will be hitting the market in the next month or so. Look out for them. Send me some photos of them on your bike, lawn mower, or broom handle. I would be stoked to see that!!

Last night I won the Jomopro contest! I had some really hard battles with Tstomu Kitayama and then Matthias Dandois before making it to the final with Matt Wilhelm. In the final battle me and Matt were both so tired so I thought it was a very close race. I was very surprised to see all the judges voted for me! So thats it! I am the winner of the 2011 Jomopro!

This morning we left my house at around 6:30 (am) for the Jomopro contest in Joplin, MO.  This was my first long road trip in such a long time. I normally fly to every event but Matthias wanted to drive so since he is “From Fraaance!!” I said ok.

After only 1 hour of driving we saw a dope sign that  said “Terry” and Decided to stop for a photo. Wow, That was such a BAD idea. Somehow we managed to get a huge nail in the tire while trying to see the sign. Bummer!

We were so lucky to have this guy stop and help us. With in 1 hour we were back on the road again! So after that moment we were really excited to hurry to the contest with no more unnecessary stops.

After 12 hours of non stop driving we finally just arrived in Joplin. We managed to get in 1 hour of practice on the contest floor before heading to the hotel. I am laying in bed updating this blog because “you gotta do, what you gotta do, when you gotta do! Tomorrow the beginner & expert class are happening. Can’t wait to see how these guys have progressed! Its gonna be a dope day tomorrow. Then the Pro contest is on Saturday. I will update.. You know this!

This morning Me, Matthias, and Fat went into downtown Hammond for a wild photo shoot with my great friend Robby Klein. We actually dropped off Fat at a coffee shop first so he could use the internet to update the Transworld site.  The photo shoot was pretty rad in a studio. We did a couple riding shots along with some fun portraits as well.

After the studio shoot we headed to an old motel so Robby could do a quick shoot with Matthias. A crazy lady came outside and told us that if we stay more than 15 minutes an old man was going to come outside and shoot us with a gun. This is no joke! Today I transported Fat and Matthias around all day for some crazy web videos and Photos. It was dope to sit back and watch these guys work. For me it was a nice to break to not ride and be a driver and a helper. I was a pretty good driver and flash holder. I even took some photos for Matthias blog! After all the crazy web shoots today we headed to City Park in New Orleans for a session with a ton of riders! OMG I was stoked on how many riders showed up! It was so tight! We rode many hours and so many dope tricks were pulled.

The highlight for me at the Jam was riding with Broc Raidford. This guy is the most legit street/park rider in Louisiana and he showed up to ride flatland with all of us! We were so pumped to watch him ride. As you can see in the photo above, He can do a hop whip higher than you and me!! SO HIGH! Bottom line.. TODAY WAS TIGHT!

Matthias and I just had a dope session at my indoor spot. Crazy thing happened after he pulled this combo. The wind was so crazy it broke the door! Also the roof almost caved in! Oh yeah, He also liked the spot!

Dane Beardsley was on his way to Austin, TX and stopped by my house yesterday to have a full day of riding and chilling. Its was dope! I have been knowing Dane for years but this was my first time hanging out with this guy not at a contest. It was long over due! Super awesome attitude and tricks for days.

This morning I woke up to see Dane outside riding my backyard spot. He invited me out to join so we hit up a short session that mostly consisted of doing frame stands from the movie Rad. Super stoked this guy stopped by..

My favorite show on TV at the moment is American Idol. The show is popin every week people! My favorite singer this year is Casey Abrams. This guy kills it! Someone yesterday asked me “How do you like that stupid show?” My answer was “How can I not like a show that is a bunch of people chasing their dreams?? ” Its dope…

My homie Broc Raiford posted the following on Twitter this morning: “Someone give me and idea to draw something and I’ll post a picture when I’m done. So I wrote back: “Draw a picture of me” Fat Tony told him “Draw a snaggle tooth rhino playing a violin while riding a unicycle with a cast on his leg wearing a top hat. A few hours later Broc posted this photo. So incredible. Thanks bro!

Pretty stoked Dans Comp has this dope online ad running on a ton of websites for the past month. You can’t see my face but that’s me people. Thats my beautiful bottom half.

Tonight me and the wifey are headed out for night in Florida to celebrate our 2 year wedding anniversary! She is looking so good. So happy this girl is my wife. I love you babe! Let the good times roll!

Our stomaches will be stuffed for a while. People keep giving us chocolate.. So cool, so rad, and so stoked!

I just arrived in South Florida for some crazy Red Bull show. I decided to bring the wife since today is our 2 year wedding anniversary! I have 2 days of shows then we are gonna do some relaxing and chilling on the beach.

When we arrived last night we noticed Red Bull put us in the sweet hotel. Whoa! The lobby was like the Jetsons! Huge iphone touch pads on the wall to check in. Dang Red Bull.

We just had a little breakfast in bed with the beach front view. It was yum yum. Time to get ready to ride this bike. More time machines and pinky sneakers. Bloggin!

Pretty stoked I am apart of this Red Bull book with all their athletes in it. Even more stoked they gave me the page next to Shaun White. Yeah! Call me Shaun, Lets have lunch..

I have been receiving hundreds of messages on Facebook, Twitter, and through e-mail from fans around the world. I just wanted to say thanks to all the riders that respect flatland and everything I do. It means a lot to me to read your messages everyday. Keep riding guys!! I have posted a couple favorite messages below.

That last one is a favorite of mine. hahahaha!!

A couple months ago I lost a great friend of mine. I had met him through flatland when he was just 15 years old. In the above video he is riding in Southern California. I am proud to say I took him on this trip and it was 100% one of the best times of his life. The memories I spent with Dickie on this trip will never be forgotten. The little clip of him riding brings me back to that sunny day of us riding on the beach.. I miss you so much man. I think of you everyday!! Words can not explain.

John Povah had a pretty tight interview that dropped on ESPN today. I was super stoked that Povah listed me as one of his top 2 picks for his definition as a “model pro bmx rider”! Povah has been apart of BMX for over 20 years. I was completely humbled to read that. So so dope to have the respect from that guy!!

To even be compared to Brian Kachinsky is just insane. I am huge fan of Brian because this guy kills it! Perfect attitude and crazy skills on a bike! You can follow Brian on Twitter by clicking here

This past weekend I did a special appearance at a kid named Carson’s birthday party. About 2 years ago I did a small show demo at this kids house. I found out later that he wrote a note in his journal that it was the best day of his life. After reading that letter I knew I had to make the trip back to his house for another performance. I rode for about 15 minutes for him and all his little homies. They were pumped.
